A busy week so far!

Its been a busy week so far at the farm. On Tuesday a group of staff from RBS came to the farm to help start renovating one cabins which will soon house a new outdoor nursery.  The small tractor was in full force being used to transport materials to and from the cabin. Preparations are underway for the bank holiday weekend including extra poopicking to make sure the field is squeaky clean before the four day break! 100m sprint…

After a much needed bath in the heat on tuesday, we decided it would be nice for the shetlands to dry off in the sunshine in their old paddock around the orchard. They were enjoying the grass and settled well, so we all returned back to the farm for a nice peaceful lunch.... Just as i was taking the first mouthful of lunch i could here the pitter patter of shetland feet casually running past the office door. Charity Football match write up

On Sunday the long awaited charity football match arrived and the sun finally shone! There was a great turnout to the event and the car park was full! NBF FC played well and made the Birmingham All Stars work hard for their two goals. The final score was 2-0 to the Birmingham All Stars. The tombola was busy throughout the day with a variety of prizes to be won, but the most wanted had to be the three cans of condensed milk! National Grid come to the farm!

Friday saw the arrival of National Grid coming on site to help with a few projects on the farm. The team spirit was evident from the offset and all of the sub groups cracked on with their individual tasks. Whilst one team helped to re-vamp the poly tunnels with new top soil and growing bays another was creating new cold frames to go along side the poly tunnels to help grow on summer plants. Quick the suns out!

The sun has finally shone today and so we decided to be optimistic about the chances of it staying by putting out our brand new decking furniture! This means that we can now fully utilise our fantastic decking area! However it was at the sacrifice of one of our stables as it is now full of the cardboard and wrapping it came in, woops!Some of us found the whole process so tiring that we had to take a quick snooze.....

Pasties and pedicures!

Here's a picture of the delicious home made pasties that warmed us all up at the farm during lunch, none of the food got tagged with a football name today! The chickens have settled in to their new pen really well with even Dawson (my dog) unintentionally testing the electric fence! Its definitely safe to say that it works, poor lad!
