November at the farm

November at the farm

We missed an October blog! Woops! As always another busy month at the farm has come and gone in the blink of an eye!

The wood work groups have been busy making also sorts of spooky props ready for the Family Care Trust Halloween ball which was held on 31st October. I think you will all agree that they made a fabulous job of setting the stage for the night! The barn has looked very haunted with all these grave stones!

Not to miss out on some Halloween fun we also decided to have a Halloween party at the farm! We had a spooky ghost walk around the woods as well as a disco in Berry’s Cafe!

We have forgotten to mention some of the fantastic corporate groups which have come and given their time to us over the past two months.

Firstly National Grid came to us for two days in early September to do some weeding, pruning, and log splitting, as well as developing the seaside garden further and continuing work on the recycled garden fencing. A special thank you goes to the team at National Grid who fixed the log splitter for us which broke during their time with us! Thank you!

Service Master also came out to us for two days to stain the decking and furniture outside the cafe as well as an abundance of other jobs around the farm!

Lend lease came to the farm on the 8th October to help us start extending our cafe garden out into the field, as well as more log splitting and weeding the vegetable beds!

Last but not least a group came to us from Lloyd’s banking group to help us continue extending the fencing at the back of Berry’s Cafe and the back of the barn.

The amount of work groups like these help us to achieve is astronomical and helps us to continue developing the farm for the future!

The gardening team have now started their winter work, including some landscaping and fencing jobs. The fencing below was completed by the CGS team!

Lastly we have two new arrivals at the farm! Cheese the kitten has joined us to help Pineapple (our other cat) in pest control duties! Although Cheese is currently much more interested in the budgies activities! Gordon the ram has also joined us so that we can hopefully embark on another lambing adventure in spring 2016!
