On Friday 29th March we were joined by a team from Birmingham airport to help us do various jobs around the farm including to help us start developing the new sensory garden.
The base for the new shed has now been dug out and the new path way which will weave around the garden has been mapped out. The pathway will ensure that the garden is accessible to those in wheelchairs so that they can also enjoy the garden.
The team also stained the two new offices, as well as painting the new windows so that they all match. This is a really important task as a lot of the structures at the farm are wooden and face the elements all year round. Good treatment allows the wood to last for years 🙂
There was some much needed log splitting taking place as we are right at the end of our split wood for the year, and have two empty bays ready to get stocked up for next winter. Not an easy task at the moment as the wood that needs splitting needed sawing into small sections first ready to be split.
The final team helped put up a new fence as the old fencing separating the kitchen garden and the car park got blown down in the recent windy weather. Digging fence posts in is seriously hard work but the finished product always makes it worthwhile as the new fence looks great!
As always we would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff from Birmingham airport who joined us at the farm. Jobs like these would take a long time for us to complete without your help and it is so great to see areas made over in one day. The project workers really enjoy seeing a difference.
