In 2011 Berrys Cafe was built at Newlands Bishop Farm to provide a kitchen, eating and training facilities. Since then the farm has continued to grow and now needs a larger cafe to provide hot meals for all those who attend the farm.
Newlands Bishop Farm provides work based learning to adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems. By accessing a wide variety of areas individuals are able to develop their confidence, self esteem and skills which can in the future transfer into a work placement or employment.
The new cafe will provide seating for up to 120 project workers, with a large training kitchen and upper floor training rooms. It will help the farm provide more opportunities for individuals to access the much needed service of offering adults with learning disabilities opportunities to gain work based and life skills. The build team has now started on this fantastic new project and progress is looking great already! For those of you familiar with the farm you will know how much we need more indoor space, especially as the farm continues to develop and grow the activities available to the project workers who attend. The new training rooms will allow us to develop our training and education programs so that we can provide more focus on getting project workers access to employment opportunities and skills.
The project workers are enjoying seeing the building work progress and are busy helping us to re arrange some areas of the farm in order for the builders to have a safe space to turn around with machinery etc.
We are continuing to Fundraise to help towards the ongoing costs of the build and appreciate any donation towards this huge project. Our just giving link can be found here – https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/nbfcafe
