In 2011 Berrys Cafe was built at Newlands Bishop Farm to provide a kitchen, eating and training facilities. Since then the farm has continued to grow and now needs a larger cafe to provide hot meals for all those who attend the farm. Newlands Bishop Farm provides work based learning to adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems. By accessing a wide variety of areas individuals are able to develop their confidence, self esteem and skills which can in the future transfer into a work placement or employment. Following on from the success of last years scarecrow festival we decided to get creative again this year and to have some fun. We think you will agree that the standard has been set high again with some fantastic designs displayed! Here are a few down below - The winner of the festival was the horticulture teams Dr Who and Dalek. The scarecrows have now made their way over to Fountains Care Home to be entered into their competition. Fingers crossed for another winner!
Like the rest of the country the Family Care Trust has had to make several changes to its services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Newlands Bishop Farm, Community Gardening Services and Dementia Blanning Day Centre have all had to temporarily close their doors to clients during this time. The staff at the farm have continued high levels of care by going out into the community to take project workers essential supplies, pick up prescriptions, do any shopping required and to check in to offer them any support they might require. As part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations for the Family Care Trust we set ourselves the challenge of trying to climb Mount Everest in a day on the climbing wall at Flash Climbing Centre in Solihull. This requires us to climb 29,035 feet in 12 hours! It was a huge challenge but as always the project workers, staff and supporters of Newlands Bishop Farm rose to the challenge! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our first Trivia & Chilli Night. This event was part of the Family Care Trusts 25th Anniversary celebrations and it was so wonderful to see the event so well supported.The evening raised over £1200 towards our £250,000 target in our 25th Anniversary year. Thank you to our quiz master Steve and everyone who help make the evening enjoyable, plus those who donated raffle prizes. We appreciate all your support to help make these events such a hit!
Thank you to everyone that came to our open day today! It was a bit soggy but it was so fantastic to see everyone enjoying the scarecrows, opening the sensory garden with the team from Cadent (who helped get this project started!) cutting the ribbon on the new tractor with Eversfield School whose fundraising enabled us to purchase the tractor, and of course being able to show the mayor of Solihull all of our new projects.
