Community Gardening Services

With the focus being on developing gardening and landscaping skills Community Gardening Services (CGS) focuses on providing adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems the opportunity to help people in the local community by carrying out a range of gardening and maintenance tasks. Based at Newlands Bishop Farm project workers are able to blend their time spent working with CGS alongside college courses and other activities taking place at the farm.

GRASS CUTTING SUMMER- the gardening team under takes a variety of jobs for a wide range of clients. The work includes grass cutting, weeding, strimming, hedge cutting and small landscaping jobs.

GRASS CUTTING WINTER – the work changes slightly and the team will collect leaves, trim hedges, prune, do general garden maintenance and log splitting.

LANDSCAPING –  landscaping jobs, garden clearance and fencing jobs take place throughout the year. Have a look at the pictures below for some of the work done by our teams…

Our gardening service provides project workers the opportunity to build landscaping and gardening skills, have access to training on mowers/equipment and to work out in the community as part of a team. It is our aim that these skills can then be transferred into future paid employment opportunities.

The CGS team undertake a wide range of work including garden clearances, grass cutting, slabbing, fencing and general garden maintenance. Spring and summer are especially busy so if you have a project in mind please get in touch for a free quote
