Open day success!

Well Friday 13th turned out to be a lucky one for us! When preparing in the morning the sky threatened to rain a couple of times and had us worried but it came up trumps and gave us a perfect afternoon. It felt like one of our busiest open days yet with lots of activities for all to get involved in. EE come to the farm!

This week we welcomed a group of volunteers from EE to the farm to help us do various tasks. The group split into two and focused on finishing parts of the slabbing at the front of Berrys Cafe and also stained all the furniture and decking at the back of the Cafe. The slabbing proved to be an extra hard task as some slabs which had been laid previously had not set and the concrete had to be removed and re-laid. We can’t get enough of digging…

We just can't get enough of digging here at NBF and now we have moved all the sand into the arena it was time for a new challenge. Que 120 tonnes of top soil kindly donated by the NEC for us to use around the farm.  It looks like we have some super size moles around the farm! Thank you so much to the team at the NEC for dropping it off to us and for letting us have it. It's already made its way into the cottage garden and will be making its way down to the veg beds…

A magic wand is waved around the farm…

Despite the weather last week was full of productivity at the farm. The NEC maintenance team came in for the week to help continue renovating the cabin located down the end of the farm ready for it to evolve into an outdoor children’s nursery. It appeared to be transformed from an ugly duckling to a swan and now looks fantastic. Many thanks to the team that came for their time and all their hard work and expertise! IMI (an engineering company) also came on mass to the farm on Thursday with over 65 people coming to help with various jobs…
