BBQ season

BBQ season

Check out how the BBQ area now looks! In true British fashion as the concrete arrived the rain came down! Luckily it stopped not long after to allow the concrete to set! A huge thank you must go to Eamon McEvilly from EP McEvilly Contractors Ltd who organised all of the concrete and the brick work. Knowle and Doritch rotary club continue to support the farm massively and recently invited two project workers along to Copt Heath golf club as part of their fundraising activities for local charities. Both of the project workers gave a small speech and thoroughly enjoyed themselves!  …

Sales Day Sunshine

Wow the weather really delivered this sales day! The sun shone and the field was full of cars. We have changed the layout of the farm and so it meant that we had to change the normal positioning of things! Berrys cafe was stocked full of lovely cakes and food ready for everyone to tuck into... The wood work team had a variety of crafts on sale outside the back of Berrys cafe which looked fantastic in the sunshine. The hanging baskets and bedding plants sold really well and we know that they will only continue to look better throughout…

Helping hands

The help is coming from all over and this time we were joined by staff from Lloyds banking group. They joined us on Tuesday to continue on some of the large projects started last week as well as continuing to help us with other projects at the farm! Check it out - Work on the new pig area has begun with removing some of the old fence posts which create a boundary to the farm field. Pigs are very good escape artists so we wanted to make sure that the boundaries are super strong to keep them in! Still working…

JLL come to the farm!

JLL come to the farm!

JLL (who provide professional real estate services/ investment) came to the farm in force last Friday! Over 55 people came to the farm to help us crack on with some massive jobs! Check out what they have been up to... One team began log splitting our huge pile of logs so that the split wood can be seasoned through the summer and will be ready to use in the log boiler to heat Berrys Cafe in the winter. They filled a whole log bay! Weeding the vegetable beds is always an ongoing task as weeds just love growing in our well…

And its April…

Check out our weaved willow structure in the recycled garden! The horticulture team made it in the winter and it has now sprung into life. All of the gardens at the farm are starting to show the early signs of growth and will soon be full of colour! Our lambs are coming on really well and get bigger each day! They are also getting much braver and love the camera! Thank you to all that donated for our mud run! We raised over £4000 thanks to your generosity and we are now looking for a tractor to buy for the…

Mega March

Mega March

March has been a wonderful time at the farm where we have welcomed 11 new lambs! The ewes are (as always) brilliant mothers, which is good news for us as Amy and Lilly had triplets! We will be keeping a close eye on these moms and lambs in particular to make sure that everyone is getting enough food and milk! To allow the lambs to have constant access to extra feed but not other greedy ewes the wood work team built a 'lamb creep' where the lambs can go in and nibble! They rely on their mothers milk for the…

Farming In February!

We are already flying into February and we have lots to show you! To begin we are going over to Community Gardening Services (CGS) who are based in Chelmsley Wood. They offer a variety of gardening/ landscaping services and recently tackled this overgrown garden! Check out the before and after!  We have all been enjoying the ups and downs of the winter weather, and are all looking forward to some spring sunshine! Although none of us like the rain, we don't mind it as much when we get a nice rainbow at the end of it!   Some of our…

January Blues? Not here!

January Blues? Not here!

Hello everyone and welcome to 2016! As always there is lots to show you! To begin here are some fantastic sun rises/ sun sets at the farm which have taken place over the past week. Cheese the cat has been up to his usual naughty antics! He managed to jump up onto Jimbo and proceeded to fall asleep! Jimbo must be a comfy cushion (but not a very clean one!). The farm got a sprinkle of snow on the weekend which is when we put our hay to good use. The horses enjoyed all the extra food which makes the…

November at the farm

We missed an October blog! Woops! As always another busy month at the farm has come and gone in the blink of an eye! The wood work groups have been busy making also sorts of spooky props ready for the Family Care Trust Halloween ball which was held on 31st October. I think you will all agree that they made a fabulous job of setting the stage for the night! The barn has looked very haunted with all these grave stones! Not to miss out on some Halloween fun we also decided to have a Halloween party at the farm!…
